GenepoweRx is proud to host the National DNA Day Essay Competition. This day commemorates the completion of the Human Genome Project in the year 2003 and the discovery of DNA double helix in the year 1953. This National DNA Day let’s learn more about genetics and genomics.

This competition is open to college students nationally and asks students to ponder upon the intriguing concepts in genetics. Essays are expected to be well-written indicating a deep understanding of scientific concepts related to the essay question. They are evaluated by highly skilled and qualified professional’s from GenepoweRx.

What is the GenepoweRx National DNA Day Essay Competition?

The essay competition aims to recognize and sponsor participants who possess an understanding of genetic concepts and enable them to be a part of the genetic research and scientific field.

When can I register?

Registration will open on 20/03/2023, you may register and submit your essay before 10/05/2023. Save the date!!

Who can register?

Students:

Currently pursuing a Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Bioinformatics and Genetics.

Why is this required?

Genetics research studies how genes are involved in health and disease. Understanding genetic factors and genetic disorders is vital for learning more about promoting health and preventing disease.
There is an ever-growing need for scientific researchers owing to the rapid advancements in genetic research. We are in the quest for a contender who can make significant contributions to the healthcare industry and build a career in the field of genetics.

How to register?

Step-01 : Register- Registration opens on 20/03/2023.
Step- 02 : Follow APA style guide for your essay https://apastyle.apa.org/ , your essay must not be plagiarized and must adhere to the word limit.
Step-03 : Submit essay topic answering any one of the three questions before the registration closes on 10/05/2023.
Step-04 : Your work will be evaluated by industry experts.
Step -05 : Winners will be announced on 01/06/2023.
Step -06 : First, Second and Third place winners from across the nation will get a paid internship opportunity at GenepoweRx for a period of 45 days.
Step-07 : Certificates will be awarded to you on successful completion of the internship program.
Step-08 : Explore a whole new world of career opportunities.

Essay Questions

Importance of Sequencing Technologies in clinical genomics. Importantly, how is NGS superior over microarrays?

Problems or concerns in identification of right candidates for targeted therapies in cancer by NGS. What are your solutions to overcome them?

How do you bridge the gap between advanced genomic technologies and current medical practices. What are the hurdles and how would you resolve them?

Choose any one of the three questions to elaborate and answer in your essay. The word count for the essay should be 800-1000 words.
